COLUMBUS, Ind. – A vehicle that was reported stolen on June 7 was recovered late last Friday by the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO). Deputies were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the area of East State Road 7 and US 31, south of Columbus.
When the car left that location, a felony traffic stop was conducted near the intersection of East State Street and State Road 46. With the assistance of the Columbus Police Department and BCSO K9 Fizko, the driver, Jeffrey Linville, 59, of North Vernon, was taken into custody.
The K9 alerted officers to the odor of narcotics inside the vehicle where suspected methamphetamine and drug-related items were allegedly found.
Linville was remanded to the Bartholomew County Jail on preliminary charges of vehicle theft, possession of meth, and possession of drug paraphernalia. The suspect has since been released.
