FRANKLIN, Ind. – The winner of the Johnson County Community Foundation’s (JCCF) 2022 Color the County Mural program design contest and the 2022 Community Painting Day were announced Monday.
Chelsie Liberati, a muralist, author, and children’s book illustrator, is the winner of this year’s contest. While working for three years as a commercial muralist, she traveled across the country to paint wild space scenes, hungry dinosaurs, and everything in between.
“The ability to combine the location of the river and dam with the fish and a secondary, almost subliminal, attachment to Camp Atterbury with the topographical lines mimicking a camouflage pattern is outstanding,” said JCCF’s Dave Windisch. “This piece will become a landmark for many Edinburgh visitors and locals.”
Community Painting Day will take place Saturday, July 30, from 9 a.m. to noon, at 592 W. Center Cross St., in Edinburgh. JCCF invites residents of all ages to help bring the mural to life this summer at a Community Painting Day. Painting supplies and refreshments will be provided.
