HOPE, Ind. – The 2022 Old Fashioned Independence Day celebration in Hope is set for this Friday evening, July 1, at the Hope Town Square.
The event begins with the usual Kids’ Parade of Decorated Bikes, Tricycles, Strollers, Wagons, etc. The parade is open to all children of the community, 10 years of age or younger, who would like to meet at the Pump House on the north side of the square between 6 and 6:15 p.m., ready to show off their form of transportation.
Other activities include games, contests, and crafts. Again this year, the “Little Miss and Mr. Firecracker Contest” will take place. Kids ages 3-10 may enter, with winners being determined by the child who gets the most penny votes.
Also featured is a pie baking contest. Any baker that wants to enter should bring a full-size apple pie to Old Fashioned Independence Day. Judges decide who gets the $25 grand prize and the other two runner-up prizes of $15 and $10 in the adult category and the kids contest for ages 12 or younger.
