COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation’s (BCSC) Parkside Elementary School will soon undergo a two-year refurbishing of its facilities and classrooms, fueled by $12 million in renovations.
The makeover will “set students up for success with a state-of-the-art, collaborative learning environment,” a BCSC spokesperson said in a statement.
Major changes coming to the school include a new STEM lab, new large group instruction areas, dedicated spaces to support students’ mental wellness, and gender-neutral restrooms. Classrooms will feature more natural light, new flooring, cabinetry, and windows, while significant architectural features, such as existing interior beams, will be preserved.
“Our primary goal as educators is to support our students’ learning experiences in every possible way. These renovations, which foster innovative teaching strategies and make students feel more at home will help accomplish this goal,” Parkside Elementary Principal Chris Smith said.
