COLUMBUS, Ind. – Ivy Tech Community College is celebrating the opening of its new Columbus campus building, Moravec Hall, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony this Wednesday, Oct. 5, at 4 p.m. The event will feature college and community officials, the building’s design architects, plus tours of Moravec Hall and the renovated Columbus Learning Center. Everyone is welcome.
The 80,943-square-foot structure is home to high-demand academic programming that includes business, education, entrepreneurship, dental assisting, surgical technology, nursing, and information technology.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony salutes the College’s nearly decade-long progress to bring a modern, state-of-the-art academic facility to southcentral Indiana. Moravec Hall contains advanced technology in the classroom and sophisticated simulation labs to provide students with hands-on experiences, including its Surgical Technology Operating Room, Nursing Simulation Lab, Education Learning Lab, Information Technology Networking Lab/Data Center, and Visual Communications Creative Lab.
Moravec Hall was designed by IwamotoScott Architecture of San Francisco and was the first building in 10 years supported by the Cummins Foundation Architecture Program, which provides the design architect fees for buildings in the Columbus community.
It is named in honor of Tony Moravec and his family. The local businessman and philanthropist has served on the College’s state board of trustees and as a member of the Ivy Tech Foundation board.
