NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Country Squire Lakes (CSL) and the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) have entered into a partnership to place a full-time deputy in Country Squire Lakes. CSL’s Mike Miller approached Sheriff Kenny Freeman with the proposal for the housing community.
The agreement consists of CSL funding the cost of the deputy’s salary, partial fuel, and a small amount to offset any additional expenses such as benefits. The Jennings County Council has agreed to cover any additional cost not met by Country Squire Lakes.
About 12% of our county’s population resides within Country Squire Lakes with approximately 17% of the county’s calls originating in CSL.
Miller’s vision is to have a public safety building built inside of CSL to house fire suppression equipment and a law enforcement office.
Deputy John Hartman will be assigned to Country Squire Lakes. Other JCSO deputies will also continue their patrol and response within CSL. Nothing changes in regard to requesting assistance. Call Jennings County dispatch at 812-346-4911 for non-emergency or 9-1-1 in an emergency.
