SELLERSBURG, Ind. – The Indiana State Police (ISP) in Sellersburg announced Wednesday that a suspect has been arrested in connection with the death of the previously unidentified boy found inside a suitcase in rural Washington County, in April of this year.
When ISP detectives originally began the case, there was little information available to assist in the investigation. No family members, witnesses, or acquaintances came forward to identify the boy or provide any information. Leads from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children and the public proved unsuccessful. Autopsy information shed little light on the inquiry.
In the hopes of determining any suspects, investigators used physical evidence and advanced technologies, including a variety of digital communication and social media forensic techniques. ISP detectives eventually identified two suspects.
On October 14, felony arrest warrants were issued for Dawn Elaine Coleman, 40, of Shreveport, Louisiana, and Dejaune Ludie Anderson, 37, of Atlanta, for charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and obstruction of justice. Anderson is the biological mother of the deceased child.
Coleman was taken into custody in San Francisco on October 19. Anderson was not found. An arrest warrant for Dejaune Anderson on the charge of murder was issued on October 25.
Dejaune Ludie Anderson is at large, and her location is unknown. The public’s assistance is requested in locating her. She is described as a black female, 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 135 pounds, with short, dark brown hair. She often wears wigs or hair extensions. Her last known location was Los Angeles but has also recently been to San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Houston.
The boy was identified as Cairo Ammar Jordan, 5, of Atlanta. He would have turned six last Monday.
