
COLUMBUS, Ind. — UPDATE: (4:19 p.m.): In a message sent to parents school officials announced Columbus East had regained power and regular in-person classes will resume Friday.
“Power has been restored in the building at CEHS,” said a message sent to parents. “After school events Thursday and classes at East on Friday will take place as normal. Thank you for your flexibility and patience.”
UPDATE (7:40 a.m.): The Bartholomew Consolidated School Corporation (BCSC) confirmed, just before 5 a.m. today, that Columbus East High School (CEHS) will shift to eLearning on Thursday as parts of the school are still without power.
“CEHS is still without power in critical areas and the building is closed to students. Classes will be conducted through eLearning on Thursday, November 3,” according to a BCSC message sent to parents. “Please check itslearning for assignments. We will update you again later today about after-school activities and Friday’s status.”
ORIGINAL: Parts of East High School were without power on Wednesday evening which could mean no in-person classes in the building on Thursday.
“Critical portions of CEHS are currently without power and may result in the need for an eLearning day for students with classes at East on Thursday,” said a message sent to parents late Wednesday.
The message continued, “We are working with Duke Energy to get power back on as quickly as possible for the entire building and will provide an update no later than Thursday at 5 a.m. (similar to school closings)”
