GREENWOOD, Ind. — Angela Fowler, a 4th-grade math teacher at Grassy Creek Elementary School in Greenwood, was surprised with the prestigious $25,000 Milken Educator Award at a ceremony Tuesday morning.
Milken Educator Awards Vice President Dr. Jane Foley and Indiana Secretary of Education Dr. Katie Jenner recognized Fowler, extolling her work as a model for the state. She is the first Milken Educator Award recipient from the Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation
The honor has been presented during the 2022-23 school year at 40 schools across the nation, and is described as “the Oscars of Teaching.” More than $140 million in funding, including $73 million in individual $25,000 awards, has been devoted to the initiative, which includes powerful professional learning opportunities throughout recipients’ careers.
