UPDATE: (12:45 a.m.): One suspect in Tuesday evening’s shooting that left four people wounded was taken into custody after midnight, according to Columbus Police Department’s public relations officer Lt. Matt Harris. An updated news release with more details will be issued Wednesday morning.
ORIGINAL: Four people have been shot near the basketball courts in Lincoln Park, the Columbus Police Department (CPD) confirmed to LocalNewsDigital.
The shooting happened around 7:40 p.m. Tuesday night. All four were taken to the hospital and one person was transported via lifeline, according to CPD’s Lt. Matt Harris.
No one has been arrested in the incident and people are asked to avoid the area as police conduct their investigation. Hamilton Center, as well as the park and ball fields at Lincoln Park, are closed.
“We would like to thank the civilian city employees who acted quickly to ensure the safety of persons in the park as well as a large group of people inside Hamilton Center after the incident occurred,” CPD said in a statement.
The circumstances of the shooting, the identities of the victims, and their current conditions are unknown at this time. More information will be shared as it becomes available.
