WHITELAND, Ind. – Whiteland Elementary School has reopened and students will begin their 2023-2024 school year on Thursday after water damage prevented their scheduled start on Wednesday.
Rain on Tuesday night caused water to leak through a portion of the roof of the building that was being repaired.
According to a Clark-Pleasant Community School Corporation (CPCSC) spokesperson, about four or five classrooms in one section of the school experienced water damage to the carpet tiles, supplies, books, equipment, and ceiling tiles.
CPCSC says the rest of the school building did not experience any damage.
