SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Seymour Police Department (SPD) arrested two North Vernon men after a supposed argument led to them firing a litany of shots into a Jeep with six people inside.
Officers responded to the area of Hill Top Mobile Home Park, at 115 S. O’Brien St., on Wednesday, at around 11:15 p.m. They arrived to find a White Jeep riddled with bullet holes, according to police.
They learned that the incident had occurred behind Captain D’s, at 831 E. Tipton St. Investigators were then summoned to conduct interviews and process the scene.
Law enforcement determined that the suspect vehicle apparently headed East on Tipton St. after the shots were fired and investigators eventually learned the car had traveled to the Jeffersonville area. The pair was pulled over and Robert D. Rummel, 20, and Alvin Huttsell, 19, were taken into custody.
When interviewed, Huttsell allegedly admitted to being the shooter and Rummel supposedly acknowledged that he was driving the vehicle, per SPD.
Huttsell was arrested on 48 counts of attempted murder and Rummel was arrested on 48 counts of conspiracy to commit attempted murder and 48 counts of assisting a criminal. At least eight shots were fired at the victim’s vehicle and there were six individuals in the vehicle when the shots were fired.
Both Rummell and Huttsell were taken to the Jackson County Jail and remanded into the custody of the jail division.
