COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Prosecutor Lindsey Holden-Kay has announced that her office has hired Jay Frederick to fulfill its new role of Criminal Investigator. He will be responsible for coordinating the investigative activities of the office, promoting effective working relationships with partner law enforcement agencies, and coordinating with the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
Frederick is a lifelong Bartholomew County resident and recently retired from the Columbus Police Department (CPD) after serving 23 years. Before that, he served 10 years with the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) for a total of 33 years of experience in law enforcement.
During his time at CPD, Frederick ran the Criminal Investigations Division first as its Lieutenant and then later as its Captain. The Criminal Investigations Division is comprised of the department’s Detective Unit, the Intelligence-Led Policing Unit, and the Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET).
He is a certified medico-legal death investigator and past president of the Bartholomew County Substance Abuse Council. His professional specialties include death investigations, as well as investigating crimes against children and narcotics offenses.
