TAYLORSVILLE, Ind. – The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) pulled over a vehicle after several traffic violations on US 31 and I-65 late Sunday night and ended up taking the driver into custody on several gun and drug-related charges.
When questioned, David Riddle, 39, of Edinburgh, supposedly admitted to having methamphetamine and heroin in the vehicle. Deputies searched and allegedly found four baggies containing a crystal-like substance consistent with meth, heroin, and two loaded pistol magazines. However, no firearms were inside the vehicle.
Riddle is a convicted serious violent felon due to a felony conviction from a 2007 domestic battery case. He reportedly admitted to having two handguns at his residence and to being an active member of a known criminal gang, the Hell Raisers.
Inside his residence, more narcotics, narcotics equipment, and two handguns were supposedly found. One of the firearms was allegedly stolen out of Shelby County.
Riddle was taken to Bartholomew County Jail on a 48-hour hold. He was charged with:
- Dealing in Methamphetamine (Level 3 Felony)
- Dealing in Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug (Level 4 Felony
- Possession of Meth (Level 5 Felony)
- Possession of Cocaine or a Narcotic Drug (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon (Level 4 Felony)
- Unlawful Carrying of a Handgun (Level 5 Felony)
- Possession of a Firearm by a Domestic Batterer (Misdemeanor)
- Participation in a Criminal Organization (Level 5 Felony)
- Possession of Stolen Property (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of a Legend Drug Inject Device (Level 6 Felony)
- Possession of a Controlled Substance (Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Marijuana, (Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Paraphernalia, (Misdemeanor)
