INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State Police (ISP) Lieutenant Edward Olibo, of Franklin, graduated Thursday from the FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He was among a chosen group of law enforcement officers from across the U.S. to attend the Academy. Olibo has been with the Indiana State Police for nearly 25 years and is assigned to the ISP Criminal Justice Data Division.
Two hundred and one law enforcement officers graduated from the 290th session of the FBI National Academy, which consisted of men and women from 46 states and the District of Columbia. The class included members of law enforcement agencies from 24 countries, five military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations.
Over 55,000 graduates have completed the FBI National Academy since it began in 1935. The Academy is held at the FBI Training Academy in Quantico, where the FBI trains its new special agents and intelligence analysts.
Lt. Olibo, originally from Johnson County, graduated from Franklin Community High School in 1987 and earned his associate degree in Criminal Justice at Vincennes University in 1989. In October 1990, Olibo started his law enforcement career with the Columbus Police Department as a patrol officer and was a SWAT team member.
After graduating from the 58th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy in 1999, he was appointed as a trooper assigned to the Indiana State Police Post in Lafayette before being transferred to the Seymour Post where he patrolled Bartholomew and Jackson counties.
