BROWNSTOWN, Ind. – Travis Tritt, Bryan Martin, and Charles Wesley Godwin are set to headline a weekend of music in Brownstown, the first weekend of August at the annual Jackson County Watermelon Festival.
Rock the Rind, the concert series that runs alongside the watermelon festival, began last year with headliner Sara Evans and looked to continue bringing the best of 90s country this year with seven-time platinum artist Travis Tritt. The artist who charted more than 40 times with such songs as “Help Me Hold On” and “It’s a Great Day to Be Alive” will take the stage Friday, August 2, at 9:30 p.m.
The weekend features 11 artists, Thursday through Saturday, August 1-3. Here is the lineup.
The Jackson County Watermelon Festival features over 30 merchants selling food, drinks, and gifts. The main draw is the Watermelon Patch, at the corner of Cross and Sugar Streets, where attendees can grab some Jackson County-grown watermelon to enjoy during the event. The Patch is a family-friendly area full of kids’ activities, watermelon seed spitting, the watermelon steal, and much more.
The festival also hosts the Watermelon 5K run/walk on Saturday morning. This is the first year since 2015 that it will take place on Brownstown’s streets. Athletes start in downtown Brownstown, go to the Jackson County Fairgrounds, and return to the finish line downtown. Sign up here.
