NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a car at the intersection of County Road 150N and Kipper Lane in the early morning hours of Thursday.
As a deputy approached the vehicle, the driver sped north on Kipper Lane. A high-speed chase began on county roads with speedometers reaching nearly 100 mph.
The pursuit entered Country Squire Lakes, where the car stopped on Locustwood Drive. The driver, 25-year-old Jason Duncan of North Vernon, exited and fled on foot. A female passenger was detained and later released.
Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies monitoring the pursuit arrived with a K-9 and tracked Duncan into a wooded area. After the suspect allegedly failed to comply with commands to come out, the K-9 was released to apprehend Duncan.
According to law enforcement, there was a brief struggle but the man was taken into custody without further incident. After receiving treatment at St. Vincent Jennings Hospital, Duncan was transported to the Jennings County Jail.
He was charged with a Probation Revocation Warrant for his original offense (Possession of a Syringe) and Escape (Home Detention) for his original offense of Resisting Law Enforcement. New charges included Resisting Law Enforcement (Level 6 Felony), Resisting Law Enforcement (Misdemeanor), Reckless Driving (Misdemeanor), and Possession of Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor).
