COLUMBUS, Ind. – Bartholomew County Emergency Management (BCEM) says that Columbus, Bartholomew County, and much of Central Indiana, will see some impacts from the remnants of Hurricane Helene through about 8 p.m. on Saturday.
Rain will spread northeast across southern and central Indiana through Friday night. There is a slight risk of excessive rainfall.
A High Wind Warning is in effect Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Wind gusts of 45-55 mph with the potential for isolated higher gusts may result in power outages. Wind gusts of up to 60 mph are possible between 4-9 p.m. on Friday.
River flooding is not expected due to abnormally dry soil, but efficient rainfall rates may lead to localized flash flooding across south-central Indiana.
There is also the potential for power outages due to downed trees or power lines. Driving may be difficult for high-profile vehicles.
BCEM reminds residents to have a safety plan, be ready to act when severe weather is imminent, and not drive through flooded roadways.
