INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development (DWD) announced Wednesday the October unemployment rates for Bartholomew, Johnson, Jackson, and Jennings counties were lower than in September.
For Bartholomew County, the October rate was 3.5%, down from September’s 3.7%. The county reported 42,968 employed residents out of a 44,508-person labor force.
Johnson County’s October rate was 3.3%, a decrease from 3.5% in September. Employed workers totaled 87,552 from a possible 90,534.
The Jennings County rate for October was 3.9%, slightly lower than 4.0% in September. There were 13,434 workers out of a possible 13,973.
Jackson County recorded a 3.3% October unemployment rate, just below the 3.6% registered last month. The county reported 22,493 employed residents out of a 23,168-person labor force.
Indiana DWD officials announced earlier this week that the overall Hoosier unemployment rate for October was 4.4%, a slight increase from 4.3% in August.
