SOUTH-CENTRAL, Ind. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Indianapolis says 2025 will begin with cold temperatures, single-digit windchills, and a threat of light snow for south-central Indiana.
This includes Bartholomew, Johnson, Jennings, Jackson, Decatur, Brown, and Shelby Counties.
Meteorologists continue to monitor the potential for a major winter storm on Sunday and Monday. All precipitation types are possible across Indiana.
There is a chance for light snow on Thursday night and Friday. Temperatures will drop as Arctic air builds over the weekend. It is expected to be bitterly cold next week.
NWS advises you to take these precautions during this period of weather:
- Dress in layers if you must be outdoors
- If traveling, slow down, drive carefully, and allow extra time to reach your destination
- Clear snow and ice from vehicle windows before traveling
- Keep an emergency kit in your vehicle
