SHELBYVILLE, Ind. – The Shelby County Sheriff’s Department, Shelbyville Fire Department, Waldron Volunteer Fire Department, and Indiana State Police responded to a two-vehicle personal injury accident on eastbound I–74 near the 118-mile marker, on Wednesday at around 8:20 a.m.
The crash involved a box truck operated by a 26-year-old Missouri man and a van driven by a 58-year-old man from Indianapolis. The van driver was trapped in his vehicle until extricated by the Shelbyville Fire Department.
The preliminary investigation shows that the van rear-ended the box truck.
Shelbyville Medics transported the van driver to IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. The box truck driver was assessed at the scene and refused further treatment.
The interstate was closed for over two hours and reopened just before 11 a.m.
