GREENSBURG, Ind. – Decatur County Dispatch received an automatic crash indication near the 133-mile marker on eastbound I-74 on Friday at 4:45 a.m.
Law enforcement from the Greensburg Police Department and Decatur County Sheriff’s Department responded and found that a single passenger car had been struck in the slow lane by a tractor-trailer.
Emergency personnel from the Greensburg Fire Department and Decatur County EMS arrived to provide medical assistance but the single female occupant of the passenger car was pronounced dead at the scene by the Decatur County Coroner.
Eastbound I-74 was closed for about four hours for crash investigation/cleanup. It reopened at 9 a.m.
The truck driver is cooperating with law enforcement. The deceased woman has not been identified.
