FRANKLIN, Ind. – In case you were unaware, Franklin Mayor Steve Barnett is an accomplished Dirt Late Model Race Car Driver with 28 championships and over 200 feature wins.
In 2008, he was inducted into the Brownstown Speedway Hall of Fame, and in 2018 was installed into the National Dirt Track Hall of Fame.
And now, the Northern Allstars Late Model Dirt Series recently announced that the 2025 series champion will be awarded the Steve Barnett Champions Trophy plus a $10,000 first-place prize. Barnett is a 6-time Northern Allstars Late Model Dirt Series Champion.
Mayor Barnett said he was happy to be recognized by the Series in this way and stated, “Being the Mayor and racing cars has one big thing in common, you have to wear a helmet for both jobs.”
The City of Franklin congratulates its mayor on the honor.
