NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The April art show at Perceptions is Mapping Jennings County – An Exhibit Exploring the Art of Historic Maps of Indiana. The adventure begins with a reception on April 4, from 5 to 7 p.m.
It is your chance to dive deep into the stories of Jennings County and Indiana, as told through the lens of historical maps. You’ll uncover how cartographers of old captured the county’s essence and explore how those maps can spark incredible creativity in today’s artists.
Louise Malcomb, a long-time resident of Jennings County and former Indiana University librarian, curated the exhibit of maps from her personal collection and will be available at the opening reception to answer questions.
Also on exhibit will be a collection of iconic scenes of Jennings County produced by 12 artists and friends of Perceptions. These works will be up for bid during the month.
The show, a blend of historical maps, map-inspired art, and cutting-edge technology, will reveal how cartography has shaped past and present worldviews.
The Perceptions galleries are open most Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12-5 and Saturdays from 11-2. A closing reception is set for April 27, from 1-2 p.m.
