BUTLERVILLE, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) was dispatched to Butlerville last Friday after receiving multiple 911 calls for a disturbance. Callers reported an accident between a car and an ATV, and stated that a man was on the car’s hood trying to keep it from leaving the scene.
While en route, JCSO received information from Dispatch that shots had been fired during the altercation.
When deputies arrived, they found the car parked in a gravel lot with a female driver awaiting law enforcement. She provided a statement and remained cooperative.
While speaking with the other party, it was determined that Harlan Pennycuff, 26, of North Vernon, allegedly climbed onto the hood of the car, displayed a gun, and fired several shots into the ground.
He was arrested on the following preliminary charges:
- Criminal Confinement (Level 3 Felony)
- Pointing a firearm (Level 6 Felony)
- Criminal Recklessness with a Deadly Weapon (Level 6 Felony)
