SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Muscatatuck Wildlife Society presents the Wings Over Muscatatuck Annual Spring Migratory Bird Festival on Friday, April 25, from 8 a.m. to noon, and Saturday, April 26, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., at the Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge, three miles east of Seymour, on Highway 50.
Wings Over Muscatatuck is a free annual event for bird watchers and nature lovers. The festival celebrates the amazing spring bird migration. It supports the Muscatatuck Wildlife Society’s educational programs.
Friday morning’s event is a guided birding trip in a van exploring the Refuge and its birds. Space is limited. Advance registration is required at 812-522-4352, ext. 12.
Saturday’s full day of activities includes Bird Walks, Crane Program, Hawks and Owls of Indiana Program, Wetlands/Woods Guided Walk, and Guided Tour of the Refuge’s closed areas. Muscatatuck National Wildlife Refuge features easy hiking trails and handicapped accessible trails for bird watching and exploring its scenic beauty.
Children and adults are invited to enjoy the day’s many other fun activities, including Kids’ Birdhouse Building, Kids’ Watercolor Painting with the Southern Indiana Center for the Arts, Plein Air Painting with Maureen O’Hara Pesta, Face Painting by Darnell Dukes, a scavenger Hunt, and a Bird Cake Walk..
Visitors can enjoy shopping at the Native Plant Sale, a Silent Auction, and the Nature Center Bookstore Gift Shop. Morning muffins, snacks, and lunch will be available.
Entries are now being accepted until April 24 for the Wings Photography Contest.
