COLUMBUS, Ind. – A familiar favorite of south-central Indiana ice cream lovers is debuting its second location in Columbus. Kovener’s Korner, a soft-serve ice cream shop that has served up summer treats on Second Street in Seymour since 1949, is expanding to Central Avenue and Rocky Ford Road later this spring.
In 1949, Bill and Lena Faye Kovener opened a soft-serve ice cream shop in a small brick building with a green roof and a yellow-striped awning for Jackson County visitors and residents alike for the past 75 years. While the original owners have since passed, the Kovener family has continued to own and operate the local shop that will expand for the first time into Bartholomew County.
Locally famous for its Chocolate Malt ice cream, hard-serve ice cream, milkshakes, and floats, the new spot has yet to announce an opening date, but fans of cold treats should expect it soon.
Kovener’s Korner’s Columbus location is seeking employees. Those interested in applying can do so here. Find out more by visiting their Facebook page.
