COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Area Arts Council (CAAC) is holding an artist-led workshop celebrating Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day on Sunday, April 27, from noon to 5 p.m., at the 6th Street Arts Alley. The event invites participants to explore the art of analog photography under the guidance of local artists Bridget Conn and Ken Klehm.
Register for one-hour slots between noon and 4 p.m. Following the workshops, a Photography Meet-up takes place from 4 to 5 p.m.
Attendees will learn about the pinhole process and explore downtown to capture an image with a wooden box camera provided by the artists. Photos will be developed on-site in a portable darkroom, transforming unique moments into tangible works of art.
“Pinhole cameras let you step away from the tech-driven precision of photography and experience the awe and wonder that analog darkroom processes provide,” said Conn.
Following the workshop, local photographers are invited to a meetup where they can bring their pinhole cameras and experimental photos, or just connect, share ideas, and get inspired.
Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day was established in 2001, and this year, Columbus joins participants from around the globe, including Belgium, Portugal, and the United Kingdom, in this creative celebration.
This event is made possible through a Positive Change Grant from the Heritage Fund and the City of Columbus.
