COLUMBUS, Ind. – During an “Operation Pullover” event on Sunday at around 7 p.m., the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) observed a vehicle go left of the centerline on Indianapolis Road. When the car could not maintain its lane, a deputy initiated a traffic stop near Carl Miske Drive.
The occupants were driver, Trevor Kennedy, passenger Justice Goodwin, and two juveniles, ages three years and four months old. While speaking with the adults, officers reportedly detected the odor of marijuana emanating from the vehicle. The deputy said he also noticed signs of impairment while speaking with Kennedy.
The deputy allegedly located about 16 pounds of marijuana, over 2000 THC vape pens, one pound of THC wax, and other drug-related items inside the car. About $4,775 in U.S. currency was also seized.
Because of information gathered at the traffic stop, BCSO executed a search warrant at the Kennedy/Goodwin residence in the 4000 block of N. County Road 150W. A firearm, another 10 pounds of weed, additional marijuana/THC products, and more evidence of dealing in marijuana were supposedly discovered.
Kennedy was jailed and booked for Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated – Endangerment, Dealing Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Neglect of a Dependent, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. He remains in custody on a 48-hour hold.
Justice was incarcerated and charged with: Dealing Marijuana, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Paraphernalia, Neglect of a Dependent, and Maintaining a Common Nuisance. She was also placed on a 48-hour hold.
The two children were entrusted to the Department of Child Services (DCS), which was able to make arrangements for their care with family members.
This is a preliminary investigation. All persons are innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
