SEYMOUR, Ind. – A Las Vegas man was busted for drugs on Tuesday afternoon when cocaine and thousands of dollars were seized after he was pulled over for a traffic violation on I-65 near Seymour.
The Indiana State Police (ISP) conducted a traffic stop on an SUV on southbound I-65 near the 51-mile marker in Jackson County at around 12:30 p.m. During the pullover, a trooper became suspicious that criminal activity was taking place. K9 “Bosco” was deployed on the vehicle, and he alerted to the odor of illegal drugs coming from the car.
An ISP search allegedly located around two kilos of suspected cocaine and about $8,000 in US currency.
The driver, Jhonatan S. Carrillo, 27, of Las Vegas, Nevada, was arrested and incarcerated in the Jackson County Jail on initial charges of dealing in cocaine, possession of cocaine, and operating while never having received a valid driver’s license.
The suspected cocaine, the money, and the vehicle were all seized as a part of the investigation. The estimated street value of the cocaine was $50,000.
