HOPE, Ind. – The surprising little town of Hope, is hosting its 11th anniversary Groundhog Day event on Friday, February 2, starting at 8 a.m., on the Hope Town Square. The groundhog makes her appearance at 8:30.
The special morning, where Bartholomew County residents find out if the groundhog sees its shadow, is part history, part theater, part nature, and part fun.
All are welcome to meet “Hope the Groundhog” from Utopia Wildlife Rehabilitators and find out if south-central Indiana will have six more weeks of winter.
The event features music, hot drinks, and snacks, plus there will be opportunities for live streaming and photos with “Hope” after the reveal at Willow Leaves on the north side of the square.
No need to travel to Pennsylvania to see Punxsutawney Phil. The Hope Groundhog Day party is held whether it is raining, snowing, sleeting, or bitterly cold. Organizers say it is “Americana at its finest.”
