COLUMBUS, Ind. – A veteran Columbus Police Department (CPD) service dog recently retired after a lengthy career. K-9 Argo, a German Shepherd and Belgian Malinois mix was one of the police department’s four service dogs.
Argo was born in the Republic of Poland in 2012 and was brought to the United States shortly after his birth. He was trained and certified for patrol and narcotic detection.
The K-9 amassed nearly 3,000 training hours in his 12-year career and was also responsible for 482 arrests and 443 narcotic seizures during his time in Columbus.
Argo was used for 105 building searches and over 150 trackings. He also helped find a missing child.
