NASHVILLE, Ind. – Brown County residents will soon have a dedicated space for pickleball if a crowdfunding campaign reaches its goal of raising $50,000 by July 14. If successful, the project led by the Brown County Pickleball Club, Inc. will receive a matching grant as part of the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority’s (IHCDA) CreatINg Places program.
Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch, Indiana’s Secretary of Agriculture and Rural Development, said, “Physical activity has an immense impact on one’s health and quality of life. These pickleball courts will make physical activity more accessible, attainable, and fun in Nashville.”
Funds from this campaign will be used to hire local contractors to construct eight new pickleball courts in a new, state-of-the-art facility at Deer Run Park.
“Pickleball courts in Brown County will not only match the recreational offerings of our neighboring communities but will also enhance our status as a tourist destination, driving economic benefits to our local retailers and lodging facilities,” said Brown County Pickleball Club president Danny Key.
Since the CreatINg Places program began in 2016, projects have raised more than $10.8 million in public funds and an additional $9.1 million in matching IHCDA funds.
