SEYMOUR, Ind. – The Indiana Arts Commission recently awarded $4,000 to the Jackson County Public Library (JCPL) for the Painted Story of Our Community project through the Arts Project Support grant program.
The library is taking applications for Jackson County artists and ideas from the community for painting the windows at the Seymour, Crothersville, and Medora libraries, quarterly, through June 2025.
JCPL wants to connect the community by sharing each other’s stories through art. The 2025 Summer Learning Program theme is “Color Our World.” These painted stories will reflect the life, culture, and experiences of people in each community and be displayed on the windows at the Seymour, Crothersville, and Medora libraries each season through June 2025. An album of all paintings will be created on the library’s Facebook page.
Local artists aged 14 and over who are interested in being one of the $250 stipend-paid artists, can stop by their nearest library or read more information and fill out the form online, here.
Jackson County residents who want to share their stories or other ideas for the windows can stop at their nearest library or get more information about the Painted Story of Our Community, here.
The full list of grants awarded is available on the Indiana Arts Commission website.
