NORTH VERNON, Ind. – Jennings County Sheriff Kenny Freeman recognized Jennings County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Deputies Blake Maynard and Dylan Smock, and North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) Officer Joe Watts with Life Saving Awards on Wednesday afternoon.
The honors are the result of an incident in which a small baby was choking and responding law enforcement and officers were able to clear the baby’s airways.
Sheriff Freeman said, “We are very proud of each of you. JCSO also values our working relationship with the North Vernon Police Department. NVPD officers never hesitate to assist deputies when needed, and in this particular case, it helped save a life. This is a wonderful team of law enforcement officers working together to make Jennings County a safer place.”
