INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — The Indiana Department of Transportation has adopted a strategy of improving roadways and bridge ratings following major projects along the Ohio River and the new Interstate 69 project. Commissioner Brandye Hendrickson says maintaining infrastructure is just as important as new construction.
Expanding and maintain infrastructure is a key factor in sustained economic development. The proposed I-69 Ohio River crossing project is expected to open a lucrative economic pipeline between Evansville, Indiana and Henderson, Kentucky. INDOT officials say more 5,500 vehicles a day use the I-65 Ohio River crossing in the Louisville area.
