BROWNSTOWN, Ind. — A Seymour woman has been sentenced to two, 20-year prison terms for dealing in methamphetamine. The order from Jackson County Circuit Judge Richard Poynter requires Michelle Root, 40, to serve the sentences consecutively.
The charges originate from a traffic stop in March that resulted in the arrest of James Hess and the recovery of 35 grams of methamphetamine. Hess will go to trial in January 2017. Since his initial arrest, Hess has also been charged with trafficking for trying to smuggle 20 grams of methamphetamine into the Jackson County Jail.
Root could be released from prison in March 2031.
