COLUMBUS, Ind. — An internal audit of Wayne Township accounts has revealed that they are missing $44,000.
According to township officials, former trustee Clint Madden, was reportedly making withdrawals from township funds and told members of the fire department he was purchasing equipment for them. Officials state they could not justify the money spent or find equipment purchased, so they began to question Madden. They said that Madden assured them all the expenditures were justified, but then he stopped attending regularly scheduled township meetings.
Brenda Mijares replaced Madden in October. The investigation is ongoing.
