Seymour, Indiana — The Jackson County United Way’s 20th Annual Day of Caring kicks off Friday, 7:30 a.m. from the Seymour Middle School football field. The Seymour Middle School is located at 920 North Obrien Street.
The Day of Caring has projects scheduled all over Jackson County from new landscaping for Brownstown Middle School, to assisting in the refurbishing of the Historical Joe Jackson Hotel in Vallonia, to painting the curb and poles around the Crothersville Vernon Township Volunteer Department, to removing invasive plants at Muscatatuck, and many, many more.
“We want to share a huge thank you to our volunteers and to all of our sponsors! We thought last year’s numbers were impressive numbers; however over the next month over 160 projects and over 1,000 volunteers will be a part of this year’s Day of Caring. It’s amazing!” This year, JCUW saw a 71% increase in the number of volunteers and 105% increase in projects. The increased engagement is wonderful. “We are so excited about the number of individuals who are showing care for their community.” Brooks continued, “Let’s continue to grow and give back to our wonderful county. We ask all residents to cheer us on Friday for a great Day of Caring. NOW – aren’t you excited for our 21st Day of Caring next year?!” One of the co-chairpersons, Karen Brooks said.
