WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two central Indiana students earned high honors at a competition sponsored by Jobs for America’s Graduates National Student Leadership Academy in Washington D.C.
Elena Floyd, a senior from Whiteland High School, won second place in public speaking and Kyleigh Lay, a junior from Shelbyville High School, won first place in the math skills competition. There were more than 150 students from all over the country that participated contests that promote employability, math skills, and public speaking.
More than 15,000 students have participated in the event since 2006. The students train in up to 88 disciplines such as critical thinking, team leadership, and effective communication.
