COLUMBUS, Ind. — An expired license plate on a vehicle led to a foot pursuit in Columbus Tuesday night.
Columbus police observed Douglas Houchens, 37, driving illegally near 11th and Washington Street, and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. Houchens fled but disabled the car when he hit a curb at 22nd Street and Hawcreek Avenue. Houchens fled the vehicle, but was captured a short time later by a canine officer.
Houchens was checked-out at Columbus Regional Health, and then transported to the Bartholomew County Jail. Houchens has been charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, resisting law enforcement on foot, leaving the scene of an accident, and driving while intoxicated.
