INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Andretti Autosport has announced a partnership with newly formed Steinbrenner Racing, to field a full-time car in the Indy Lights series. Second generation racer Colton Herta, son of team owner Bryan Herta, has been introduced as the driver.
At the age of 16, Herta won the 2013 Pacific Formula F1600 championship. He has competed in the 2016 EuroFormula and the 2016 British Formula 3 Championship. Herta got four wins during the 2016 racing season.
“I’m very pleased to be coming back to race in the States,” said Herta. “IndyCar is my goal, so competing in Indy Lights this year will bring me one step closer. I know I have a good team behind me in Andretti Steinbrenner Racing and we should be fighting for wins right away.”
Herta joins Dalton Kellett, Nico Jamin, and Ryan Norman on the Andretti Indy Lights roster for 2017.
