COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus officials now expect the first phase of work on the State Street Corridor Project to be completed sometime in May. It includes new lighting, a 10-foot walk path on the westbound side of the bridge, and a 54-inch tall bridge railing system to protect pedestrians. The phase was supposed to have been completed in December 2016, but material delays have caused the work extension.
Phase two of the project includes a 6-foot walk path on the eastbound side of the bridge, new lighting, and a 54-inch tall bridge railing system. Phase two carries a price tag of up to $4 million.
The final phase of the enhancement will see the construction of a pedestrian path that will connect east Columbus with downtown Columbus and Mill Race Park.
