FRANKLIN, Ind. — Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox is warning the public about the latest scam. A resident told police that a caller identifying himself as a representative of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, told her they were giving grants to people who pay their taxes on time. The caller reportedly had a heavy Indian accent.
Detectives are following leads and processing evidence. Sheriff Cox reminds people not to give out personal information over the phone and consult with family members or a trusted friend.
