FRANKLIN, Ind. — The Johnson County Republican party will select the next mayor of Franklin tonight during a meeting at 7 p.m., in Franklin City Hall. Interim Mayor Steve Barnett and former clerk-treasurer Janet Alexander are the leading candidates for the post.
Barnett has been the city council president for the past six years and has been actively involved in a long list of projects in the city. Barnett has met with city department heads and precinct committee members to share his passion for the city and plans for the future.
Alexander has worked with four previous administrations and was encouraged to run by members of the community. She believes her knowledge of how the city does business will be an asset for residents of the community.
