NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The North Vernon Police Department (NVPD) was dispatched on Thursday to a reported battery at the Burger King on Main Street.
When officers arrived, they spoke with the victim and were told that the victim’s cell phone was allegedly stolen from him during the incident and the suspect had fled the restaurant. After reviewing video from the security cameras at Burger King, police discovered that the male suspect had fled in a silver car, believed to be a Kia Rio.
While later patrolling the area of Oakwood Drive, NVPD located the vehicle and a man matching the suspect’s description.
Anthony Menendez, 48, of North Vernon, was arrested and taken to the Jennings County Jail. He was booked on charges of robbery, criminal confinement, theft, and battery.
Police say that the stolen cell phone was recovered and returned to the owner.
