COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police arrested a hit-and-run suspect after a short foot chase on Friday around 4:45 p.m.
Officers were on patrol when they observed Ashley Shuffitt, 21, who was a suspect in a hit-and-run accident on February 8. Shuffitt began fleeing when she realized police were attempting to take her into custody. Police say that while she was running she threw a glass pipe containing methamphetamine on the ground.
Shuffitt was taken to the Bartholomew County Jail and charged with possession of methamphetamine, failure to stop after an accident, possession of paraphernalia, and an outstanding Bartholomew County warrant.
