COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus police made a methamphetamine arrest following a vehicle pursuit Monday night.
Officers attempted to stop a car driven by Jose Garcia Rodriguez, 26, in the 1600 block of Lafayette Avenue, around 11:15 p.m. Rodriguez refused to stop and led police on a chase through downtown and out of the city. The fleeing vehicle began going through farm fields in an attempt to elude police. The pursuit ended after the car was disabled when Rodriguez tried to drive through a field in the 3400 block of South County Road 250E. He was apprehended by a canine officer.
Rodriguez was treated for dog bites, and then taken to the Bartholomew County Jail and charged with resisting law enforcement with a vehicle, possession of methamphetamine, resisting law enforcement on foot, criminal recklessness, and operating a vehicle without a license.
