FRANKLIN, Ind. — An Indianapolis resident was seriously injured after being struck by a train in the Franklin area around 1 a.m. Saturday.
Franklin police reports say Matthew Huffaker, 27, his fiancé, and another man were clowning around near the railroad tracks as a train approached near BoJaks Bar and Grille. The report continued to say that Huffaker apparently got too close to the tracks and as the train went by, the steps from one of the railroad cars clipped him and threw him to the ground.
Because of poor weather conditions, Huffaker had to be driven to Methodist Hospital where he was listed in critical condition. Police reports indicate that they believe Huffaker was drinking, but do not know if that contributed to the accident.
