SEYMOUR, Ind. — A Columbus resident was one of two people arrested after a vehicle pursuit on Interstate 65 in Jackson County on Saturday morning around 2:30.
According to police reports, officers attempted to stop a car driven by Bobby Poindexter, 39, of Palmyra, that had supposedly been involved in a road rage incident with a semi-truck, almost causing an accident. Poindexter reportedly refused to stop and accelerated away from police. Officers say they pursued the vehicle, and during the chase they saw several items being thrown out of the passenger side window. When police finally stopped the vehicle, reports indicate they discovered Poindexter was driving while suspended and was in possession of marijuana. Poindexter allegedly struggled with police, but was eventually placed in handcuffs. Passenger, Amy Sullivan, 38, of Columbus, was also taken out of the car and placed in handcuffs.
The report also says deputies found a package that contained 44 grams of methamphetamine along I-65 that they believe was thrown from the passenger side window while the chase was going on. During a search of the vehicle police say they found 120 plastic baggies, digital scales and four grams of marijuana.
Poindexter has been charged with dealing in methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine, dealing in marijuana, resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and driving while suspended. Sullivan has been charged with dealing in methamphetamine, possession methamphetamine and possession of marijuana. Both are being held without bond.
